The backlit effect depends entirely on a properly placed light source installed behind the panel before it is adhered. Select your light type ƒ?? warm white, cool white, or color ƒ?? and position it for even distribution across the full panel area before committing to installation. Uneven lighting will be visible through the stone. LED strip lighting recessed into the substrate is the most common approach for a clean, professional result.

Clean, Sound, and Dry

The wall or substrate surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust or debris. At 0.06ƒ?? thick, any surface irregularities beneath the panel may telegraph through to the face. A smooth, flat substrate gives the cleanest adhesion and the most even light transmission.

Installation

Step by Step

Plan & Install Light Source

Select and position your light source behind the substrate. Test for even light distribution across the intended panel area before proceeding. Adjust placement until the glow is consistent edge to edge.

Prepare the Surface

Ensure the substrate is clean, flat, and dry. A smooth surface is especially important for translucent panels ƒ?? any bumps or voids beneath the panel can interrupt light transmission.

Cut to Size

Use a sharp utility knife or score-and-snap method to cut panels to your required dimensions. The ultra-thin profile cuts cleanly without power tools.

Apply Adhesive

Spread adhesive evenly across the substrate surface. Use a translucent or clear adhesive where possible to avoid dark spots showing through the panel face under backlighting.

Press and Align

Set the panel into position and press firmly across the full surface. Check alignment and confirm the panel lays flat ƒ?? air pockets will appear as dark spots when backlit.

Test the Effect

Once the adhesive has set, activate your light source and evaluate the result. Minor adjustments to light intensity or color temperature can be made at this stage before final finishing.

Use Clear Adhesive

Standard white or grey adhesive can create visible dark patches when the panel is backlit. Use a clear or translucent-curing adhesive to maintain even light transmission across the entire panel face.

Even Light Distribution

Hot spots and dark zones are the most common issue with backlit installations. Use LED strip lighting at consistent spacing and test the distribution thoroughly before the panel goes up ƒ?? correcting it after installation is not practical.

Handle with Care

At 0.06ƒ?? thick, these panels are far more flexible than standard stone ƒ?? handle flat and support the full panel during positioning to avoid cracking. Store flat in a protected environment prior to installation.

Care & Maintenance

Clean LuxeStone Falling Leaves with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners that may scratch or cloud the stone surface. For exterior installations, periodic sealing with a quality penetrating stone sealer is recommended. Ensure all electrical components of the backlighting system comply with local codes and are installed by a qualified electrician where required.

Here's a breakdown of the shipping fees for other product lines we provide:

Carvings - Enjoy FREE shipping via FedEx on all carvings within the 48 contiguous United States - exclusions apply for Trade Orders.

Radius Corners - Shipping costs are determined by the destination, starting at a minimum of $45. Should the freight charges surpass $45, you'll receive a separate quote via email once your order is placed.

Composition and Plaster Products: Shipping Charges are 15% of the total sale. These products are custom and non-returnable.

Plaster Medallions: Shipping Charges are 15% of the total sale and a $75 Crate Fee. These products are custom and non-returnable.

Urethane, Acoustic and Tambour Panels: Shipping Charges are 10% of the total sale. Shipping Charges or a minimum of $25.

White River Poplar Mouldings - Shipping fees are based on the destination, with a $45 minimum charge. For LTL (less-than-truckload) orders, you'll be sent a separate quote through email. Due to FedEx Policy, products 96’’ [8’] & longer are subject to ground freight + additional l $45.00 /ea pkg. Unless notified, WR will trim all mouldings to 95". If you require 96" [8’] & are willing to pay the upcharge add a note to your order.

Global Deliveries - We are pleased to offer worldwide delivery for our online orders. However, please note that certain products, particularly larger items or those containing fuel or hazardous substances, may not be eligible for international shipping. To ensure compatibility, kindly review the product and shipping details while browsing. If your destination is not available during checkout, we are unable to deliver to your location.

International Shipping Rates: A minimum charge of 30% of the order applies to shipping fees. In the unlikely event that shipping and handling expenses surpass the indicated amount, we will promptly inform you.

Products cannot be returned without prior approval and must have a Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number. Under the following circumstances, products may not be returned for credit:

  1. Are marked on
  2. Are modified in any way
  3. Have been exposed to excessive sun or moisture
  4. Have sheetrock mud, primer, stain, "job site damage"
  5. Returned 60 days after invoice purchase date

Returns are F.O.B. Buyer and are subject to a 20% restocking charge. To receive credit for stock products, product must be received in re-sellable condition. Custom mouldings and custom woodcarvings are not returnable under any circumstances. If returned products are received damaged due to poor repackaging, no credit will be processed. It is imperative that items are not returned in their original packaging without a thorough inspection as more fill may be needed to boxes of carvings or additional wrapping for mouldings may be necessary to prevent return shipment damage. Please call  1-800-558-0119 and speak to our Customer Service Representative to request an RGA.
